Your Recovery Is On The Horizon

Drivers must respect pedestrian rights around the city

All drivers on the roads need to drive safely. This is especially true when there are pedestrians around. The streets of San Diego have a lot of pedestrians, so drivers must be extra cautious.

When drivers are watching for people walking or bicycling, they need to be sure that they are taking the current conditions into account. For example, it is much more difficult to spot a pedestrian if the roads have a lot of obstacles like signage or shrubbery. Bad weather and darkness can also make it more difficult to see pedestrians.

While driving around the city, people must be aware of crosswalks. Many drivers try to speed through crosswalks; however, this can put pedestrians at risk. Remember, crosswalks are spaces where pedestrians have the right of way. Drivers should slow down and drive safely in these areas even if it means the drive will take a few extra minutes.

Another area where drivers must be vigilant is when cars have to park on the side of the road and in parking lots. People are going to be walking all around in these areas. Drivers should remember to give these people ample space instead of trying to rush and putting them in danger.

When a pedestrian is hit by a car or any other vehicle, they can suffer grave injuries. Many times, these accidents could have been avoided. These pedestrians might decide that they are going to hold the driver accountable by seeking compensation. This could help them recover money that is needed to cover their medical care after the accident.
