Hit-and-run traffic accidents often result extensive personal property damage. Sometimes, these crashes may lead to severe injuries, such as broken bones, spinal cord injuries and brain damage. In the most severe and tragic cases, hit-and-run crashes are fatal. When such fatalities occur, law enforcement authorities and the public often work hard to locate the drivers responsible for the accidents.

A 54-year-old male pedestrian was killed when he was struck by a car. The deceased, a resident of Sacramento, was pronounced dead at the scene. Reports do not indicate whether the man had died immediately after he was hit by the vehicle. It is not clear from reports whether broken bones, head trauma or a back injury may have contributed to the man’s death.

The California Highway Patrol suspects that the hit-and-run driver was operating a maroon or red vehicle. Reports do not note whether there were any witnesses to the crash. It is unclear how the CHP obtained a lead on the vehicle’s color.

Few details about the accident were described in reports. Law enforcement authorities did not offer any speculations about whether the driver may have been intoxicated, distracted or fatigued at the time of the accident.

If you have lost someone close to you due to a deadly pedestrian accident, you may have legal options. For example, filing a lawsuit may help your family receive compensation for your losses. Taking this step may also provide you with closure on the tragedy. This may in turn allow you to grieve and move on with your life.
