Mother bites animal’s ear to save daughter during dog attack

You might consider the mark of a good parent to be an individual who would do anything for his or her children. Many mothers and fathers in San Diego sacrifice in order to provide for their kids. If there is a perceived threat, such as a dog attack, some parents wouldn’t think twice about jumping into the line of fire in order to protect their child. When faced with such a situation, one mother did everything she could to save her daughter.

The Houston mother, who is a self-proclaimed dog-lover, said she thought the pit bull she was pet-sitting for a friend was very friendly. However, when the animal met her 2-year-old daughter, she saw a different side. The dog attacked and bit the girl’s face, resulting in scarring and a mandate to stay out of sunlight for a year.

During the attack, the mother reacted and did the only thing she could think to do: fight. She bit off the dog’s ear and put her fist into the animal’s mouth. For a week, the mother was not able to hold her daughter because she lost the full use of her arms. An officer arrived at the woman’s house after she called 911. The dog was shot but did not die at the time, though it was later euthanized.

The mother said she believes the pit bull attacked the girl because it smelled the family’s dog on her. No matter what the reason is for a dog bite, it is important to seek the legal counsel of an attorney. A trip to the hospital for stitches and other necessary care can be expensive, not to mention the long-term emotional distress often associated with surviving an attack. An attorney can file a claim on the victim’s behalf to secure compensation for the associated damages.
