Among big cities, San Diego boasts some of the safest drivers

On behalf of Nield Law Group, APC | Jan 2, 2014 | Pedestrian Accidents

Large cities are known to have many issues, and chief among them is traffic. Crowded roads and frustrated drivers can lead to property damage and fatal automobile accidents. According to a recent report, however, San Diego sits near the top of big cities with some of the safest drivers in the country.

Allstate Insurance Company conducted a report that ranks both the safest and most dangerous cities for motorists. Areas with the most accident-prone drivers include some of the most populated cities, with Washington, D.C., topping the list, along with Philadelphia, Miami, San Francisco and Baltimore. Not all big cities have these issues, however, and cities such as San Diego, Phoenix, Chicago and Houston are among the safer metropolitan areas.

Car safety experts note that drivers in big cities should follow a few safety guidelines, including listening to traffic reports and plotting directions ahead of time. Responsible driving is also necessary in rural areas, where fewer incidents may occur according to reports, but can be just as damaging. Drivers in rural areas should obey posted speed limits regardless of the temptation of open roads and keep an eye out for pedestrians.

Regardless of the environment, motorists should always drive responsibly to avoid deadly consequences on the road. Engaging in activities such as speeding or texting while driving can be proof of negligence and result in injury, death and costly lawsuits. San Diegans who find their loved ones were victims of an incident should consult an attorney to pursue a wrongful death claim, seeking compensation for medical expenses and other damages.
