Car strikes 2 pedestrians, dealing them serious injuries

A father and his son were seriously injured recently while they were trying to cross the street. A car that stopped at the intersection then tried to get through it, but not before the vehicle struck the 28-year-old father and his 6-year-old son. Thankfully, neither person appears to have suffered life-threatening injuries.

It also appears that this pedestrian accident truly was an "accident." The driver that struck the father and son stopped after the accident and tried to help. The driver cooperated with police and it does not appear that the woman is suspected of driving under the influence or driving recklessly.

While this may have truly been an accident, there are far more pedestrian accidents that occur out there that are directly caused by reckless, negligent or otherwise irresponsible drivers.

Pedestrians are inherently very vulnerable when they are crossing the street. They don't have any safety gear, and they are being struck by heavy, powerful motor vehicles. Of course serious injuries are going to occur. As such, it is critical that drivers look out for pedestrians at intersections and to drive slowly when approaching or going through an intersection.

If a pedestrian is injured in an accident, they likely suffered serious injuries. They may consider legal action against a driver if that driver was negligent or deemed at fault for the crash. If their lawsuit is successful, the compensation garnered from the lawsuit could help them deal with the medical costs associated with their injuries.
