People often sign up for organized athletic events to motivate themselves to exercise and get in shape. The thought of not finishing a race or huffing and puffing to get to the finish line can help people focus on getting out the door for an early morning walk or run. No one expects to suffer an injury during these training routines, and a dog attack causing a serious injury can be a nightmare for an aspiring athlete.

A German Shepherd has been taken from its owners and put into quarantine after it recently attacked a woman walking in a San Diego neighborhood. The woman was training for a breast cancer walk that takes place in November when she passed by two big dogs in a yard that did not have a fence. She attempted to avoid the dogs by moving to the other side of the street.  However, both dogs came towards the woman, and the German Shepard attacked. The woman suffered puncture wounds on her leg from the animal bite.

The victim must spend time recovering from the dog bite injury which certainly involves physical pain as well as the fear and emotional pain associated with her encounter with the large, vicious dogs freely roaming the neighborhood. The woman may further experience scarring and disfigurement from the punctures. Individuals who suffer a dog bite injury may find it helpful to discuss the situation with an experienced personal injury attorney. It may be possible to recover compensation for medical expenses and other damages from the pet owner.
